PORTRAIT OVERVIEW

I am very fond of low-poly, low-resolution, retro 3D game art. It's a style I absolutely love. I made this little lo-fi self-portrait as both a character art exercise and a style exploration.

I did all modeling, rigging, animation, and compositing in Blender. The base color textures-my favorite part of this project-were created in Photoshop and then further adjusted in Blender.

Except for the face, which is fully painted, all textures in this piece utilize real photos, either taken by me or taken from stock photo libraries. I took my models' UVs into Photoshop, where I could manipulate my photos to fit these UVs and make any additional adjustments. It was a lot like making a digital collage. To get the final pixelated, dithered effect, I experimented with Photoshop's web export settings until I got a result I liked.
